《中国哲学原论》共六卷，包括《导论篇》、《原性篇》、《原道篇》（三卷）和《原教篇》，不以个别哲学家为对象，而是以若干名辞与问题为研究中心，贯论中国哲学。重在探寻中国哲学问题与哲学名辞义训之原始，进而引绎其涵义，观其涵义演变，并以此彰显思想义理次第孳生之原。全书本哲学以言哲学史，又本哲学史以言哲学。本书是《中国哲学原论》之*部，由“理与心”“名辩与致知”“天道与天命”三部分组成，含摄中国哲学中的心、理、性、命、道、质、形、象、序、数、时、位等概念。
