Actionable Vue 3

Chris Minnick

This is a hands-on, practical guide for learning Vue 3. We assume that you know HTML and JavaScript pretty well, and that you’re comfortable with CSS, meaning that you know what CSS rules are and how to apply them with classes and styles. Originally written for Vue 2, this book has been completely updated for Vue 3 and includes a new lesson of Vue Routing.

We start the book off with a lesson on some of JavaScript’s more advanced features, many of which we use throughout the book. You should, at the very least, page through that lesson to make sure you’re familiar with those aspects of JavaScript.

From there, we jump into Vue 3. You’ll start off with a simple “Hello, Vue!” app, and then, throughout the book, we’ll walk you through creating a small, but featureful math app. This will give you the skills you need to build many different types of Vue 3 applications.

When reading this book, you should be sitting at your computer. When you first begin, plan to spend at least two uninterrupted hours. You should do your best to get through lesson 3 in the first sitting. That will get you through the foundational learning. From there on out, you’ll be hopping back and forth between the book and viewing, editing, and writing code on your computer. Go through the book slowly and methodically. Read every demo carefully. Work through every exercise. You cannot learn to code through reading alone. You must practice. So, get ready for some hard work and some good fun!
