This is Vol. 7 in the English Association Studies series of English Association English at the Interface.The author is a life-long scholar of Vaughan's works. The book is divided into two parts. Part One is "Biographical and Historical Contexts" with chapters on Vaughan's association with his native Breconshire, his twin brother Thomas, the Alchemist, the English Civil War, the Interregnum, and the Church, principally Anglican and also his conflicts with the Puritans. The second part is on his "Literary Practices" there are chapters on his use of allusion, the influence of George Herbert, the Scriptures, and Nature in Vaughan's work, and Vaughan's Practice of Poetry.
