Skills for business English

Skills for Business English Level 1 provides ideal preparation and practice for the Cambridge ESOL BEC Preliminary exam and is divided into 12 units, focusing on the main functional areas of Business English as covered in the exam.

Skills for Business English Level 1 can also be used by any student of Business English who needs to improve their language skills, as a basis for short intensive courses or as supplementary material on a longer programme.

Skills for Business English provides the flexibility of material that is demanded in today’s complex and fast-moving business world. Topics, functions and skills are organised in a unique way, allowing teachers and students to plan a route through the material to suit their own particular needs.

All four language skills are covered in each unit, but each unit is divided into 3 separate sections – typically Listening, Reading and Writing, Speaking – so students can focus on the skills most important to them. Each section is presented in a ‘ready-to-use’ lesson format.

The Teacher’s Guide for each level provides comprehensive usage notes for teachers, an answer key for all exercises, extension activities for each unit, full transcripts of the cassette, plus an example of the relevant BEC exam paper.

The audio material for each level contains all the listening passages for the Student Book, plus the listening element of the sample BEC exam paper.
