The purpose of this book is to provide an introduction to nuclear physics for engineers, physicists, chemists, and other scientists who must have some familiarity with the subject. The level of presentation is that of an advanced undergraduate course, and it is assumed that the reader has a general background in classical physics and a working knowledge of calculus. However, no previous knowledge of either atomic or nuclear physics is required. The book is divided in three parts, concerning the background of nuclear physics, the physics of the nucleus, and finally special topics and applications including neutron physics and nuclear fission.
