Free online Electromagnetics, volume 2 by Steven W. Ellingson is a 216-page, peer-reviewed open educational resource (licensed CC BY-SA 4.0) intended as the primary textbook for the second semester of a two-semester undergraduate engineering electromagnetics sequence. The book addresses magnetic force and the Biot-Savart law; fields in complex and lossy media; AC current flow and skin depth; reflection and transmission at planar boundaries; fields in parallel plate, parallel wire, and microstrip transmission lines; optical fiber; and radiation from current distributions and antennas.This textbook is part of the Open Electromagnetics Project led by Steven W. Ellingson at Virginia Tech. The project goal is to create publicly available, no-cost, openly licensed content for courses in undergraduate engineering electromagnetics. The project is motivated by two lowering the cost of learning materials for students and giving faculty the freedom to adopt, modify, and improve their educational resources. For each book in the series, the following are freely available for all to openly licensed and accessible PDFs, problem sets and solutions, slides of figures, editable LaTeX source files, and information for the book’s collaborator portal and listserv.
