The book covers the essential basics of the Group Theory that are required for all sections of chemistry and emphasizes the necessity of this theory to understand the theoretical and applied aspects of Molecular Spectroscopy. The material in this book is presented for a first and final year postgraduate level students of Indian Universities and the subject matter covered in this book forms an essential part of one or two paper. Veera Reddy is a Professor of Chemistry, currently teaching Inorganic Chemistry at Osmania University, Hyderabad. After receiving his M.Sc. (1974) and Ph.D. (1980) degrees from Osmania University, he has been serving on the faculty of the University continuously from 1980 as Lecturer and till date as Professor. He visited United States for his post-doctoral stint (1988-1990) and worked as a Research Associate at the Department of Chemistry, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. He has a vast teaching experience of over a quarter of a century, and has the unique distinction of delivering over 1000 lectures as a Resource Person at several Workshops, Refresher Courses and Orientation Programmes Organized by many colleges, universities and research centers, particularly on the topics related to `Symmetry and Group Theory`.
