The final volume in the Encyclopedia of Mathematics , an updated and annotated translation of the Soviet Mathematical Encyclopedia published in five volumes in 1977-1985. Volume 10, the index volume, contains all the titles of the articles (some 6,600) as well as the names of all the definitions, named theorems, algorithms, lemmas, scholia, constructions, etc, which occur in the various articles. Each word or phrase in the index also includes all of the AMS classifications accorded the article in which it appears, and may also have been provided with its own classification numbers. The index also contains the inversion of this list which will, for each number, provide a list of words and phrases which serve as an initial description of the content of that classification number.
