Hydroelectric Power Plant Operator
Hydroelectric Power Plant Operators are responsible for the day-to-day operations of hydroelectric power plants. They monitor and control the flow of water through the plant, and ensure that the plant is operating safely and efficiently. Hydroelectric Power Plant Operators must have a strong understanding of the principles of hydroelectric power generation, and be able to operate and maintain the plant's equipment. They must also be able to work safely in a high-voltage environment.
Education and Training
Most Hydroelectric Power Plant Operators have a high school diploma or equivalent. However, some employers may prefer candidates with a college degree in engineering or a related field. Hydroelectric Power Plant Operators must also complete a training program that is approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). This training program typically takes about two years to complete.
