Applied Linguist

An applied linguist is someone who uses linguistic theory and research to solve real-world problems. They work in a variety of settings, including education, business, and government. What Does an Applied Linguist Do?

Applied linguists typically work in one of three main areas:

How to Become an Applied Linguist

There are two main ways to become an applied linguist: you can earn a master’s degree in applied linguistics, or you can earn a PhD in linguistics with a focus on applied linguistics. Both paths will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to work as an applied linguist.
