Clinical Research Physicians play a vital role in the development of new drugs and treatments. They design and conduct clinical trials, collect and analyze data, and write reports that summarize the findings. Clinical Research Physicians must have a strong understanding of medicine, research methods, and data analysis. They must also be able to work independently and as part of a team. Clinical Research Physicians typically work in hospitals, universities, or pharmaceutical companies.
Education and Training
To become a Clinical Research Physician, you will need to earn a medical degree and complete a residency in a relevant field, such as internal medicine, pediatrics, or oncology. You will also need to complete a fellowship in clinical research. Some Clinical Research Physicians also earn a master’s degree in public health or biostatistics. The fellowship can typically be completed in as little as two years or as many as three to five years, while a master’s degree can be completed in as little as one year or as long as three to five years.
Skills and Qualities
Clinical Research Physicians must have a strong foundation in medicine and research methods. They must also be able to think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively. Other important qualities, include being observant, organized, and detail-oriented, as well as having strong interpersonal and communication skills since you will need to be able to work effectively with other medical professionals and patients.
