What Does a Nutricionista Dietista Do?
Nutricionista Dietistas work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, schools, and community organizations. They provide nutritional counseling to individuals and groups, helping them to develop and implement healthy eating plans. Nutricionista Dietistas also work with food service providers to develop and implement healthy menu options. In addition, they may conduct research and teach nutrition classes.
What are the Educational Requirements for a Nutricionista Dietista?
To become a Nutricionista Dietista, you must complete a bachelor's degree in nutrition or a related field. You will also need to complete an accredited dietetic internship program. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) is the accrediting body for dietetic internships. Once you have completed a bachelor's degree and an accredited dietetic internship, you will be eligible to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam. Once you have passed the CDR credentialing exam, you will be able to use the title "Registered Dietitian Nutritionist" (RDN). In most states, you will need to be a licensed RDN to practice as a Nutricionista Dietista.
