Nursing is a rewarding career that offers many opportunities for personal and professional growth. Nurses play a vital role in the healthcare system, providing care to patients and their families. They assess patients' needs, develop and implement care plans, and monitor patients' progress. Nurses also educate patients and their families about health conditions and treatments.
Education and Training
To become a nurse, you will need to complete a nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Nursing programs typically take two to four years to complete and include both classroom and clinical experience. Once you have completed a nursing program, you will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a registered nurse (RN).

Nurses need to have a strong foundation in science and math, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and they must be able to handle stress and make quick decisions. Nurses must also be compassionate and empathetic, and they must be able to advocate for their patients.
Career Outlook
The job outlook for nurses is excellent. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment of registered nurses will grow 9% from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. This growth is expected to be driven by the increasing demand for healthcare services as the population ages.
