A Historiker, also known as a historian, is responsible for studying the past in order to understand the present. They research, analyze, interpret, and write about human history, examining both local and global events, as well as cultural, economic, political, and social changes. Historians use a variety of sources to inform their work, including written documents, artifacts, and oral histories.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

The day-to-day responsibilities of a Historiker can vary depending on their specialization and work environment. Some common tasks include:

  • Researching historical topics using primary and secondary sources
  • Analyzing and interpreting historical data
  • Writing historical articles, books, and other publications
  • Teaching history at the university level
  • Curating historical artifacts and exhibits
