Parenting Education is the field of teaching and supporting parents in developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to successfully raise children. Parenting Educators equip parents with the tools they need to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for their children's healthy development, wellbeing, and success. Whether working with individuals, families, or groups, Parenting Educators strive to improve the lives of both children and parents.
Education and Career Path
Many Parenting Educators hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or a related field. However, other degrees may also qualify individuals for this role, such as those in psychology, education and human development, human services, and family science. Depending on the role, Parenting Educators may need to obtain additional training or certification, such as PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy) certification or certification in Early Head Start Child Development Associate (CDA).
