Skills and Knowledge
Dialect Specialists should have excellent listening and analytical skills. They must be able to differentiate between subtle differences in pronunciation and identify the key features of different dialects. They also need to be proficient in transcribing speech using standardized systems and be familiar with the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
