Golf Course Maintenance Technician
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Golf course maintenance technicians perform a variety of tasks that support the overall upkeep and appearance of golf courses. They may be responsible for:
- Mowing and trimming grass;
- Watering and fertilizing turf;
- Controlling weeds, pests, and diseases;
- Repairing and replacing divots and bunkers;
- Maintaining irrigation systems;
- Operating tractors, mowers, and other equipment;
- Inspecting and cleaning golf carts and other vehicles;
- Assisting with special events and tournaments.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Golf course maintenance technicians should have a strong understanding of turfgrass science and management practices. They should also have knowledge of equipment maintenance and operation, and be familiar with the use of pesticides and herbicides.
