Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafters create technical drawings and plans using computer software. They may work in a variety of industries, including architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and construction. CAD Drafters use their knowledge of engineering principles and computer-aided design software to create precise drawings that can be used for a variety of purposes, such as planning and construction.
Education and Training
Most CAD Drafters have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some employers may prefer candidates who have an associate degree or bachelor's degree in drafting, engineering, or a related field. CAD Drafters typically receive on-the-job training from their employers.
