April 29, 2024 3 minute read

Helping refugees and immigrants as they settle into their new communities is the focus of the work done by immigrant services specialists. Supporting a wide range of needs from initial acclimation to the challenges of securing employment, housing, and educational opportunities on a long-term basis, immigrant services specialists play a vital role in assisting vulnerable populations.

Services Provided

At the heart of what immigrant services specialists do is serving as liaisons and advocates for people who may not be familiar with their new country, its laws, its language, or its customs. Effective communication is thus central to the work they perform. This includes translating for clients, assisting them with documentation, and providing referrals to healthcare providers, legal services, and other community resources.
