A Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer is a professional who has knowledge of both statistics/data analysis and computer science. This person has expertise in one or more high-level programming languages (Python, R, SQL, etc), often has advanced degrees in statistics (Masters or PhD), and often has worked in an adjacent field before transitioning into Data Science or Machine Learning (IE, a research scientist from another domain, a statistician, a software engineer, etc).
