Education and Training
Becoming a neurologist requires significant education and training. After completing a bachelor's degree, aspiring neurologists must complete medical school, which typically takes four years. Following medical school, they must complete a neurology residency program, which usually lasts three to seven years. During residency, they receive specialized training in neurology, including rotations in various neurological subspecialties, such as stroke, epilepsy, and movement disorders.
Skills and Knowledge
Neurologists must possess a strong foundation in the basic sciences, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. They must also have a deep understanding of the nervous system, including its structure, function, and development.
