Maternal and Child Health Nurse
Maternal and Child Health Nurses (MCH Nurses) are registered nurses (RNs) with specialized training in providing care to women during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period, as well as to infants, children, and adolescents. They work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, schools, and community health centers.
Educational Requirements
To become an MCH Nurse, you must first earn an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program. After passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), you will become a registered nurse. You must then complete a specialized training program in maternal and child health nursing. These programs can typically be completed in one to two years.
