CAD/CAM Engineer
Computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) engineers design and develop products using computer software. They use their knowledge of engineering principles and CAD/CAM software to create virtual models of products and then use those models to generate instructions for manufacturing the products.
Day-to-Day of a CAD/CAM Engineer
CAD/CAM engineers typically work in a team environment, collaborating with other engineers, designers, and manufacturing professionals. They may also work with customers to understand their needs and ensure that the products they design meet those needs.
The day-to-day responsibilities of a CAD/CAM engineer may include:
- Creating 3D models of products using CAD software
- Generating instructions for manufacturing products using CAM software
- Working with other engineers and designers to develop new products
- Collaborating with manufacturing professionals to ensure that products can be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively
- Working with customers to understand their needs and ensure that the products they design meet those needs
