What is a Safety Trainer?

Safety Trainers are professionals who are responsible for the development and delivery of health and safety training programs within their organizations. They play a critical role in identifying workplace hazards, developing measures to reduce risks, and ensuring that employees have the knowledge and skills to work in a safe environment. Safety Trainers may also be responsible for conducting accident investigations, developing safety policies and procedures, and performing safety audits.

How to Become a Safety Trainer

There are many different paths to becoming a Safety Trainer. Some people start their careers in related fields, such as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), and then transition into a Safety Trainer role. Others may start their careers as Safety Trainers after completing an undergraduate or graduate degree in OSH or a related field.

Regardless of how you enter the field, there are a number of skills and qualifications that you will need to be successful as a Safety Trainer. These skills include:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A strong understanding of OSH principles and regulations
• The ability to develop and deliver effective training programs
• The ability to motivate and inspire employees
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
