Security Data Analysts safeguard computer systems, networks, servers, and mobile devices against cyberattacks and unauthorized access, misuse, or theft of data. They plan, create, and implement security infrastructure, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems. They also monitor systems and networks for security breaches or violations of security policies. These professionals investigate security breaches or vulnerabilities in their organization's IT systems. They identify weaknesses in security configurations, warn of potential security risks, and develop plans for mitigating those risks.

How to Become a Security Data Analyst

To become a Security Data Analyst, you can either earn a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field, or you can gain experience in a related field and obtain certifications in security data analysis. Many Security Data Analysts hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field. However, some employers may hire candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and several years of experience in a related field, such as IT support or network administration. Certifications in security data analysis can also help you qualify for this role.
