Litigation lawyers specialize in resolving legal disputes inside or outside of court. They may consult with clients to assess legal situations, research applicable laws, and analyze appropriate courses of action. They prepare and file legal documents such as motions, appeals, and complaints, and represent clients in court while adhering to trial preparation procedures, questioning witnesses, and presenting evidence. They may also negotiate out-of-court settlements, manage discovery procedures, and draft witness statements.
