Navigation Systems Engineer
The Navigation Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of navigation systems for aircraft, spacecraft, and other vehicles. Navigation systems are used to determine the position, orientation, and velocity of a vehicle in order to guide it to its destination. Navigation systems may use a variety of technologies, including GPS, inertial navigation, and star tracking.
Responsibilities
The Navigation Systems Engineer is responsible for the following tasks:
- Design and develop navigation systems for aircraft, spacecraft, and other vehicles
- Integrate navigation systems with other vehicle systems, such as flight control systems and propulsion systems
- Test navigation systems to ensure that they meet performance requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with navigation systems
- Provide technical support to users of navigation systems
Education and Training
Navigation Systems Engineers typically have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field. They may also have a master's degree in navigation systems engineering or a related field. Navigation Systems Engineers typically have experience working with navigation systems, and they may have experience working with aircraft, spacecraft, or other vehicles.
