SAS developers assemble, configure, and maintain business intelligence (BI) and analytics applications using SAS, a widely used programming language in fields such as finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and government. They collaborate with other IT professionals, business analysts, and end-users to gather requirements, design and develop SAS programs, test and deploy applications, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Education and Training
Many SAS developers hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Some employers may hire candidates with an associate's degree or equivalent experience. Prior programming experience and knowledge of database management systems are typically required.
There are several ways to gain the skills needed to become a SAS developer. Some colleges and universities offer SAS programming courses as part of their computer science or information technology programs. There are also a number of online courses and tutorials available.
