Solar Thermal Engineer
Solar Thermal Engineers are responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining solar thermal systems. These systems use the sun's energy to heat water or air, which can then be used to heat buildings or provide hot water. Solar Thermal Engineers typically work for companies that specialize in renewable energy or green building, or for government agencies that promote the use of solar energy.
Education and Training
Most Solar Thermal Engineers have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field. Some Solar Thermal Engineers also have a master's degree in renewable energy or a related field. In addition to formal education, Solar Thermal Engineers typically need to have several years of experience working with solar thermal systems.
Skills and Abilities
Solar Thermal Engineers need to have a strong understanding of the principles of solar thermal energy, as well as the design and installation of solar thermal systems. They also need to be able to troubleshoot and repair solar thermal systems, and to work with clients to ensure that their systems are operating properly. Solar Thermal Engineers typically need to have the following skills and abilities:
