Avionics Systems Engineer
Avionics Systems Engineers design, develop, and test electrical and electronic systems for aircraft, spacecraft, and other vehicles. They work with a variety of technologies, including radar, navigation, communication, and flight control systems. Avionics Systems Engineers must have a strong understanding of electrical engineering, computer science, and physics. They must also be able to work effectively in a team environment and have excellent communication skills.
Job Duties
Avionics Systems Engineers typically perform the following job duties:
- Design and develop electrical and electronic systems for aircraft, spacecraft, and other vehicles
- Test and evaluate avionics systems to ensure they meet performance requirements
- Troubleshoot and repair avionics systems
- Work with other engineers and technicians to integrate avionics systems into aircraft and spacecraft
- Develop and maintain documentation for avionics systems
Education and Training
Avionics Systems Engineers typically need a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field. They may also need additional training in avionics systems. Some Avionics Systems Engineers also have a master's degree or higher.
