Reporting Firm Resources, Obligations and Performance

(6 hours)
This course begins with an explanation of the role of adjustments in accrual accounting and covers the difference between explicit and implicit transactions. We’ll look at the components of a Classified Balance Sheet and learn how to prepare a Classified Balance Sheet as well as a Multiple-step Income Statements.

Reporting Investments, Pensions, and Financial Statement Analysis

(8 hours)
This course covers investments, pensions, and financial statement analysis. It begins with corporate investments and consolidated financial statements, then covers pension accounting and stock options, and wraps up with financial statement analysis, including sources of financial information, performance analysis, and financial ratios.

Reporting Liabilities and Owners Capital and Cashflow

(8 hours)
This course covers liabilities, equity, and cash flow. We'll learn about current, long-term, and contingent liabilities, as well as how to account for a bond issue over its lifetime. We'll also cover stockholder's equity, cash dividends, preferred stocks, and employee stock options.

Reporting Use of Firm Resources and Taxation

(6 hours)
We'll begin this course with a look at inventory and how to link inventory valuation to gross profit. We'll also explore the four principal inventory valuation methods and assess the pros and cons of each. Next, we'll learn how to measure the cost of long-lived assets and distinguish between expenses and capitalized items.

Financial Accounting Professional Certificate Examination

(1 hours)
Earn a professional certificate in Financial Accounting from the New York Institute of Finance. This 60-minute exam comprises 30 questions. A grade of 70% or better is required to qualify for the certificate.
