Welcome to Foundations of Computer Science. This course provides a solid foundation in computer science topics essential for programming in Visual Basic. Topics covered include procedural and object-oriented techniques for solving business problems.

Introduction to Visual Basic Programming

This course introduces the five main concepts in procedural programming: user input, console output, variable declaration and assignment, decision branching, and iteration. Labs will allow students to apply the material in simple computer programs. Learners will need a local machine with Windows 7 SP1 or higher, macOS 10.1.13 or higher, or Linux. They will also need to download Visual Studio or .NET Core.

Visual Basic Programming: Classes and Collections

This course introduces the four main concepts in programming: Advanced String Operations and Dates, Modeling Classes, Development of Classes and Collections. Labs will allow the students to apply the material in the lectures in simple computer programs designed to re-enforce the material in the lesson.
