El curso te introduce al estudio de los bienes comunes (como bosques, mecanismos de irrigación, tierras de pastoreo, pesquerías, recursos culturales o la información) y su gobernanza. El eje central del curso es la propuesta de la Teoría de la Acción Colectiva y de los Recursos Comunes, considerando sus elementos teóricos centrales y sus implicaciones metodológicas. La teoría de la acción colectiva está entendida como la movilización de las acciones de los miembros de grupos y/o de la sociedad, con propósitos de cooperación. Este tipo de acción es fundamental para la gobernanza con perspectiva de largo plazo (es decir, el uso sostenido y la conservación) de los “bienes comunes”. A lo largo del seminario se buscará relacionar los contenidos teóricos con distintos problemas empíricos locales, nacionales y globales.

En este módulo, te familiarizarás con la concepción de muchos problemas ambientales y sociales en general, como construcciones sociales, y asumirás una posición crítica ante ellos.

Tipos de propiedad, derechos e incentivos de manejo de los recursos comunes.
En este módulo, conocerás la diferencia entre los tipos de recursos (a partir de las condiciones de exclusión y apropiación), tipos de propiedad y los derechos de propiedad, así como los incentivos o desincentivos que generan. También reconocerás el valor analítico y práctico de estas diferencias.
Niveles de decisión e instituciones de manejo de los recursos comunes.
En este módulo analizarás el concepto de institución, entendido como conductas que a fuerza de repetirse se “instituyen”, es decir, se convierte en normas o reglas. Se presenta además un marco de análisis sobre los distintos tipos y niveles de reglas.
Los grupos y comunidades que usan recursos comunes
En este módulo, discutirás las distintas acepciones del término comunidad y los diversos factores que contribuyen a la construcción de la comunidad y fortalecer sus instituciones. Además, conocerás distintas definiciones del concepto de capital social y sus funciones en proyectos colectivos.
