Raising Capital is a course created to help those looking to consistently raise capital over time from investors without having to cold call them or slowly network through existing connections. In this course we provide a 5 step system to attract investors to your offering over time so they are wanting to get their foot in the door at your office instead of having to cold call potential investors endlessly with no response.

While this course does discuss marketing material fundamentals, and top mistakes to avoid while raising capital its unique value is in the holistic evergreen approach to building up capital raising momentum in a way that adds genuine value and builds your firm’s reputation over time. This capital raising system was developed based on author Richard C. Wilson’s experience in raising over $250M in capital, building the Family Office Club community of over 1,500 family office investors, and now building up a single family office advisory business overseeing $5B in assets. The methods suggested in this course are what has led to that success and they have been tested over the course of Richard offering over 93 live events and speaking to over 40,000 professionals globally over the past 11 years.

Introduction to the 5 Step System to Raising Capital
Step 1: Analyze

Investors are overwhelmed by pitches, offers, opportunities and requests on their time.  After being in that flow for some time however lots of it tends to look the same.  Everyone is claiming similar things and everyone charges similar fees, they naturally are looking for anomalies and you have to figure out how to be one for your targeted investor set.

Step 2: Position

This lecture is on the importance of thinking a few steps ahead in investor conversations so by the time you get on the phone with someone you know how you could potentially add value, what their top concerns or perspective is, and where the conversation will most likely go.  This way you appear relaxed, prepared, and sharp with ready-to-go ideas and you will stand out as someone worth meeting with who is always ready to add value.

Step 3: Architect

This lecture was recorded in Toronto on how recently a $1B+ capital raiser explained live at one of our investor events how thought leadership is the holy grail of capital raising because otherwise you just get lost in the noise of the space.  Everyone says they are unique, everyone says their team is best, most people have a great investment track record.  Adding genuine value, often, is a great way to stand out and build trust with investors.

Step 4: Execute

This lecture was recorded in Cuba on the topic of how without a system to raising capital you are always hunting for the next networking event or committing random acts of capital raising which may not always have a positive ROI on your time and money invested.  You must develop some key performance indicators, systems, processes, checklists, and consistent actions which make you ever more likely to be attracting and booking meetings with potential investors if you want to raise a lot of capital over time.

Step 5: Iterate

Investors are busier, the bigger check they can write the less time generally they have to weed out their email inbox, figure out who to take meetings with or decide whether your offering makes sense for them or not.  This means that one pagers, one liners, and sending over the critical facts is required if you want to make progress with sophisticated investors.

Wrapping up the 5 Step Process

The more aligned everything in yourself and your organization is the less friction there will be and the more progress you will make. When everything is integrated and you act with full integrity with where you are and where you are trying to head it is picked up on by third parties and you will make great progress over short periods of time.

The point of this lecture series is to leave the course participant with lots of practical insights, take aways, actionable advice, and core principles that will help them raise more capital

This lecture covers the fundamental demands, focus, and needs of private investors who are ultra-wealthy which are commonly being referred to as family office investors.  This webinar covers their typical portfolio allocations, why they are unique investors from angel investors or institutional-sized investors, and many best practices on how to approach family offices and build your relationships with them.

This quick lecture is on why you have only 15 seconds to get an investors attention, it is critical that you take this seriously if you want to move beyond friends, family, and long-term relationship type investors.

Choke Points Lecture

This lecture was recording while traveling to speak at an investor event and is critical to making progress in the space.  All investments are made based on trust in the person and team, understanding of the general industry, and high conviction in the company or project that is being invested in itself.  Without all three trust curves being in place for the investor they will not move forward.

Building Your Family Office Investor Network

This lecture from Portugal is on how I have met over 500 people now that have raised over $100M each - and there are common threads between them.  This whole course is built on those commonalities they have but this video focuses in on three of the attributes which keep coming up among those best at raising capital.

Investors don't like to be hard pitched deals, they want to reach out and go after what they see as opportunities.  This video is about how to think about the value you can add to investors so they want to reach out and work with you and are attracted to working with you vs. being chased by you to get their attention.
