Welcome to the Advanced Basketball: Offensive Post Moves Course.

This course is for anyone that wants to learn offensive post moves. In this course, I will show you over thirty post moves that you can learn and practice on your own. You might not find some of these post moves anywhere else but here in this course since these post moves are very advanced and challenging to master.

Expectations from this course.

Despite the challenges that are possibly presented in this course, anyone is still capable of learning these moves. The post moves do range from basic to advanced levels. In addition, the advanced moves generally do require excellent footwork, ball control, and balance. Many of these moves are gathered from extensive studying of the basketball games and drills. I have learned many of these post moves personally from other great basketball coaches and from watching great NBA legends like Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Duncan, and etc.

Why take this course?.

Because I have a considerable amount of knowledge about post moves, I have the desire to want to share them and teach these moves to others that want to learn. These lectures will provide step-by-step instructions on how to master the techniques for these moves. Through constant repetition and practice, you can master these post moves and use these moves in games where you can be an dominant offensive player. And who knows, you might draw comparisons to the likes of Hakeem the Dream or Tim Duncan "the Big Fundamental" and just shine as an effective post player.

Syllabus

In this move, you face the basket and your opponent. The set up for this move is the same as the previous lecture. If the opponent does not fall for the pump fake, then you counter with a quick layup. The pump fake will still be effective since it will make the defender hesitate for a second. The hesitation will allow you to quickly get off a shot before your opponent blocks your shot.

This move is named after the Hakeem Olajuwon since he is best known for using this move against another great center in David Robinson. The set up for this move is same as part one of the one hand pump fake. However, you add a pump fake after the spin move. Finally, you step through for an easy layup.

I will briefly go over the expectations from this course and the components of this course, so you can know what this course is all about.

This section is to provide everyone with a basic overview of what this course is all about. I will go over in detail what each section of this course entails. You will be able to gain a better understanding of what to expect from this course.

You start off by backing down your opponent with a couple dribbles. Then, you head towards the middle of the paint where you jump stop and shoot a basic jump hook.

You start off by backing down your opponent with a couple dribbles. Then you head, towards the baseline where you jump stop and shoot a basic jumper.

Instead of using the jump stop for a jump hook, you can shoot a jump hook while you are on the move with the two step method. In this case, you will making the move towards the middle of the paint.

Instead of using the jump stop for a jump hook, you can shoot a jump hook while you are on the move with the two step method. In this case, you will be making the move towards the baseline.

This move requires you to stretch one of your legs around your defender as the other leg follows along. As you take the two big steps around your defender, you allow yourself to get better inside position for a closer shot. The drop step allows you to seal your opponents with your arms and legs to obtain a good position in the post.

This move is named after Hakeem Olajuwon, one of the greatest centers in the NBA, since he used it so many times throughout his career. It is a subtle shoulder fake where you act like you are going one direction, but you end up going the other way. In this case, you would give a fake like you are going baseline, but you go towards the middle of the paint for a shot.

This move is named after Hakeem Olajuwon, one of the greatest centers in the NBA, since he used it so many times throughout his career. It is a subtle shoulder fake where you act like you are going one direction, but you end up going the other way. In this case, you would give a fake like you are going towards the paint, but you end up going towards the baseline for a shot.

Instead of using the dream once, you use multiple times in order to throw the defender off. When you use the dream shake multiple times, your opponent will have a hard time reading your next move.

The one hand leaner is a hook shot where you are tilting your body as you take the shot. It is a difficult and off-balanced hook shot, but it allows you to get the shot off quicker and shoot the ball from an angle that is difficult for the defender to guard.

Once you receive a pass, you quickly turn around square yourself to the basket and take the shot. This will throw the defender off since a quick shot off the pass will probably not be anticipated.

Instead of shooting a turnaround jumper right off the pass, you can take a couple dribbles to back down your opponents and take your time. When the timing is right, you can take your turnaround jumper.

When you still have your dribble, you can pump fake the turnaround jumper to create an opening for another shot. In this lecture, you will take a dribble and turnaround again for that same jumper that you pump faked.

As you are driving towards the middle, you take two steps and jump off one leg for a jumper. As you pull for the jumper, you fade away from the opponent while you are in the air. Michael Jordan is well known for using this move many times throughout his career, and it has been a very effective move for him to use. It is a pretty difficult shot to master, but it can also be very difficult move to guard once you get this move down.

This quiz will go over the materials in this section.

Many moves that start off with a reverse pivot, facing the basket technique are shown in other sections of this course. You will be able to see that there are so many post moves that start off with a reverse pivot movement. However, I decided to place some of these moves in other sections because I felt like it was better suited in those specific categories.

As you face the basket, you should still have your dribble available to use. For this move, you would jab step one direction to act like you are going to drive. Pull up on a jumper if the defender bites on the fake.

When you are sizing up your opponent, you should be ready to make some physical contact with your opponent. You want to dip your shoulder into the chest of your opponent and immediately take a dribble while you are stepping back. As you step back to your hind leg, you should rise up for your jumper.

In this lecture, you would learn how to take a jumper as you are fading away from the basket. You would start off with either a pump fake or a jab step to make the defender think twice. Then, you would take one dribble towards the baseline and take a quick leaning jumper over your opponent.

You would start off driving towards the middle. If the defender beats you to the middle, then you quickly counter with the spin towards the baseline for a finish.

You would start off driving towards the baseline. If the defender beats you to the baseline, then you quickly counter with spin towards the middle for a finish.

In this move, you start off having your back to your opponent with your dribble still intact. The key to this move is feeling out your opponent by noticing how much pressure the defender is putting on you. If the opponent puts a considerable amount of pressure on your back, then you can quickly spin around for a potential shot. The move will usually catch the opponent off guard as you blow past him with a blistering move.

This move starts off with fake spin acting like you are going to the baseline. However, you end up going to the middle for a jump hook. Again, the fake spin will throw off the defender with the misdirection spin.

You set up this move with a fake spin and end up in the middle. Instead of going up for a shot, you would pump fake, step through, and finish for an easy layup.

You can either back down your opponent or start off facing the basket. You attack the middle with a jump stop and add a pump fake to it. After the pump fake, you immediately spin for a hook shot.

You start off backing down your opponent to the basket. You drive towards the middle where you jump stop and pump fake immediately. After the pump fake, you step through for an easy layup.

You start off backing down your opponent to the basket. You drive towards the baseline where you jump stop and pump fake immediately. After the pump fake, you step through towards the middle for an easy layup.

In this move, you face the basket and your opponent. Then, you drive towards the baseline where you come to a stop and pump fake. As you pump fake, you are also establishing a balanced position with a jump stop. After the pump fake, you quickly do a spin move where you should get an easy layup.

You start off facing your opponent and the basket. You simply drive towards the middle where you pump fake and take a jumper shortly after.

You start off facing your opponent and the basket. You simply drive towards the baseline where you pump fake and take a jumper shortly after.

You have your back to the basket, and you do a little ball fake towards the baseline. You add a dream shake, and turn around towards the middle for a shot.

In this lecture, this move is an add on to the previous move. Instead of taking the turn around shot, you pump fake, and you step through for a shot with the opposite hand.

In this lecture, this move is an add on to the previous lecture. After the pump fake, you would actually take a dribble instead of taking a shot. After taking a dribble, you can pump fake again and then rise up for a shot.

This quiz will go over all the materials in this section.

After watching these moves, you can now apply these moves in practices and games. I just want to share some encouraging words and tips that you can take with you as you take your post game to the next level.
