This course is all about learning the working of cars right from basics. The course will take you on a journey in which you will learn about automobiles piece by piece. We will take the most common automobile - A Car and then understand its working by taking different parts of it, analyzing it closely and then comprehending how different parts work together enabling the vehicle to move from one point to another smoothly.
I will not be using unnecessary jargon and terms that only a car mechanic will be knowing. The journey will be for people from variety of backgrounds. So even if you are a person involved in Biology Lab or in making Android apps, you can happily enroll in the course if you have interest in knowing about Cars,
The course will be mostly in form of video lectures, where I will be explaining the different components using diagrams on whiteboard. For very complicated diagrams, I will be including images and pdfs so that your understanding can become concrete. It can take a total of 2-2.5 hours for completing the entire course.
To make this more interesting, I promise to reply to each and every genuine queries of the students, irrespective of the level of toughness of the query I wish to have every student enrolled in the class, enjoy this journey with me.
At the end of the course, you will have a strong understanding of what happens inside the car and how different components work together in making a car ride comfortable, while moving from one place to another.
Let's start with some simple questions. Don't worry if you get any of them wrong! We will learn about it soon.
You will understand about an important concept of Views and know about different major parts of the cars.
Engines are complicated beasts! In this we will simplify it with a help of a simple story. A boy wanders through forest and feels hungry. Check the lecture to know what happens next!
Now we will see how exactly a Gasoline Engine works and how the different functions are analogous to different steps taken by the boy.
There is another commonly used engines - Diesel Engines. In this lecture we will look at the working and differences of Diesel engine and petrol engine.
We will be learning about the frames on which different components are installed.
There are frameless cars too. Let's learn about it in this lecture.
The central portion of the legs on which cars stand - the wheels. In this we will look at the different types of the wheels and how it works.
Tyres are the ones that are in contact with the road. It is an important component which we will be learning in this lecture.
The first step in transmission of power from Engine to wheels. Let's learn about clutches - the need of it.
We will go a bit deep and learn how exactly the clutches work in a car.
An important topic - we will be learning about gears that will be helpful in understanding the other components.
A commonly used component - Gear Box. Let's see how the driver changes gears and how it effects the speed.
One very important component of any car - Differential. In this we will learn it's working.
