Hello,
I am Diana, and I carefully prepared the course you were expecting to be able to design and sew your own garments as years ago I really wanted to learn it but I didn’t found all this information. It took me some years but finally I wanted to help people to make it easier for them. So, this course is the most complete guide to get started in making tailored swimsuits or sports leotards such as for ballet, rhythmic gymnastics or skating. Be able to draft your own patterns and making garments using a domestic sewing machine, thus saving a lot of money and getting garments that feel good.
Hello,
I am Diana, and I carefully prepared the course you were expecting to be able to design and sew your own garments as years ago I really wanted to learn it but I didn’t found all this information.
Another reason to take this course is that afterwards you won’t waste time looking for the best garment that fits you or the one you really like because you will be able to create that garment.
I provide you with a guide of more than 60 illustrated pages, with all the information and step by step you need, to start from scratch.
I also complete the training with more than four hours of videos in which I explain the step by step to make your garments in a simple way.
You can ask questions about any step by using Udemy web.
After this course, you have an extra course available for advanced designs.
You are going to know me and know why I can help you.You will see that with this course you will be able to save money by customizing your own swimsuits and leotards for ballet, skating or gymnastics. You can download the index and the first chapters of the complete guide for this course. In each section I will provide you with the necessary chapters that you must read before watching the videos of the practical part.I recommend doing the entire course to get a general idea of the entire process before making your first garment. You can always see those sections you need again when you finally make your swimsuit or leotard. The complete guide that you will have, after completing all the sections, will be of great help to review all the concepts and have the step-by-step always at hand.
If you have never used a sewing machine, you will see here how to put the ball point needle (necessary for sewing elastic fabrics), prepare the bobbin, thread the machine, and make the adjustments for the zigzag stitch that we will use throughout the process of clothing.
Remember to first read the section of the guide that I provide in this section to see how the necessary measures are taken to make your patterns, as well as to understand what corrections we must make, due to the elasticity of the fabric, so that it fits perfectly. .
With the machine ready, we are going to practice the first stitches on stretch fabric.
You have seen in the previous sections, how to take measurements and correct them for a specific fabric elasticity. Now it's time to see how we draw the basic pattern of the jersey with those measurements. This pattern is your base, you can trace it and then make modifications (before manufacturing) to mark more open necklines (do it to make it easier to put the garment on), straps instead of sleeves (Eg for a swimsuit) , leg openings higher in the hips ...
Modifications will be discussed in more detail in section 8 of this course, but in any case, you will need to make your modifications to the pattern before cutting the fabrics.
Remember to first read the pages of the guide that I provide in this section.
If the leotard you want to make has sleeves, you must draw the pattern as I indicate in this section.Remember to first read the pages of the guide that I provide in this section.
Putting a skirt on your leotard is optional, but if you want to do it, in this section you will see how to make a pattern for both the front and the back.In the guide that I provide in this section, and that I recommend that you read before watching the practical video, I also explain how to make an elastic pants pattern (leggin), which you can use separately (you will only have to apply an elastic to his waist) or join the leotard to obtain a jumpsuit, also used in sports and dance events.
With the help of the front skirt pattern, you will now learn how to draw the back skirt pattern.
A vital part of the process is knowing how to correctly position the traced patterns on the fabric to be cut.
In this class you will see how to do it.
As always, I recommend that you read the pages of the guide that I provide in this section.
This class is the focus of the course, you will learn the practical part of making a swimsuit or leotard, how to join the parts together and how to apply the elastic bands to the leg openings, neckline and armholes (if you do a swimsuit or sleeveless leotard).I advise you not to start your work until you see lecture 10.Remember to read the pages of the guide that I provide in that section, before seeing the practical part.
The basic pattern allows you to create a basic leotard, which can be difficult to put on due to its low neckline. One solution is to make a more pronounced neckline on the pattern and adding elastic band to this neckline as we have seen in the previous class. Another option is to make an overture that can be closed from behind, and this is what you will learn in this class.
So far you have seen how a basic leotard is made. It is time here to analyze other more elaborate designs to understand how they are made (check the guide that I provide in this section) so that you can later make your designs and know how they are made. Once you have understood this, in the video, I explain the basis for using your pattern for both symmetrical and asymmetric designs, and how to join fabrics in the same layer or in overlapping layers.
We have been talking about leotards, but for swimsuits you also have to start from the basic patterns that you have already made, cut the fabrics with the same techniques that I have shown you and sew in the same way. However, I am going to give you some specific ideas to modify your pattern and turn it into a swimsuit, as well as explain how to make straps that you can use for your designs.
This course ends here, after a great learning that I sincerely hope you liked.
