Perfect Song Structure and Beat Selection!
This course is designed to help aspiring hip-hop artists to perfect their understanding of song structure and how to pick out the best beats possible for their musical expression. This course will cover:
- Counting your bars
- The standard formats for a typical hip hop song
- Basic concepts of rapping on beat
- How to pick the best instrumentals for your sound
- Feeling the music and using that to write more heartfelt music
- Establishing a sound that fits the style you want to develop
This course is perfect for beginners, but I feel that ALL artists will be able to grab something from this course. My goal with this courses (and all of my courses) is to teach you these concepts, then get you to experiment with these concepts and develop your own unique style out of what you've learned. I want to pull you out of your comfort zone.

I feel like I'm ready to start now.
So my suggestion would be, if you feel like making this better after all this time, maybe you could update the visual aid for that section and or let people know that a quatrain is four bars and omit the fact that it is also two couplets, or maybe I am just dumb, who knows lol.
I feel like I learnt quite a lot going through this course.
It feels like Andre is speaking to you as an individual and it doesn't feel like a "class" in the formal sense of the word.

hip hop
Yeah it was a good match for me I’ve been writing for a long time and thought I knew everything about music lol but now I’m deciding to take it seriously so now this is all new to me mastering counting bars and how to structure everything Seriously impressed with this, glad it was connected to the YouTube videos that are also very cool, all of this is such a vital foundation and I'm amazed that you can grow up listening to hip hop your whole life and not really have a clue about the dynamics involved... even if you can recite Tupac and Bone lyrics as if they came out last week lol It's very well structured and detailed.
I definitely paid attention and I know a lot more about the intricacies of hip hop song writing and beat selection than I did before.
when I started rapping I feel I bit more than I could chew, I got it with rhyming, lyrics but I couldn't do basic stuff like simply hitting the beat, this taught me some of the fundamentals almost every rapper should know Content: This course has some concrete content designed to give a basic understanding of the structure of music (specifically to Hip Hop).
I have been into hip hop for quite some time now, and I watch pretty much all of your Lyricology 101 videos on Youtube to gain more insight on the mentality and styles of various artists, and how to improve on my own writing form.
Definitely would recommend him to someone who is an beginner in writing hip hop or music in general!

Love from Prague czech republic This is super helpful, I really appreciate how the key points are broken down.
But, by having actual music and rap back up your points might a help Throughout the whole course each lesson is broken down to foundation.
I like how easily everything is broken down starting from the bottom and working up.

First of all I learned lots from Andre, he explained on how to have a good song structure and have a good beat to go with it.

Fantastic introduction to the basics of flow, structure and beat selection, that I was previously taking for granted.
Andre made some great points on what fits you as on beat selection and on not just listening to an instrumental but also feeling it.
It goes into song structure, basics of flow, beat selection, and more.
The only minor thing was that the beat selection part could use some more examples of the good and the bad style / beat match.
Taught me basic tips that make song structure and beat selection easy to understand and remember.
