The Web Developer Bootcamp 2022
Hi. Welcome to the brand new version of The Web Developer Bootcamp, Udemy's most popular web development course. This course was just completely overhauled to prepare students for the 2022 job market, with over 60 hours of brand new content. This is the only course you need to learn web development. There are a lot of options for online developer training, but this course is without a doubt the most comprehensive and effective on the market. Here's why:
This is the only Udemy course taught by a professional bootcamp instructor with a track record of success.
94% of my in-person bootcamp students go on to get full-time developer jobs. Most of them are complete beginners when I start working with them.
The previous 2 bootcamp programs that I taught cost $14,000 and $21,000. This course is just as comprehensive but with brand new content for a fraction of the price.
Everything I cover is up-to-date and relevant to 2022's developer job market. This course does not cut any corners. I just spent 8 months redoing this behemoth of a course.
We build 13+ projects, including a gigantic production application called YelpCamp. No other course walks you through the creation of such a substantial application.
The course is constantly updated with new content, projects, and modules. Think of it as a subscription to a never-ending supply of developer training.
You get to meet my cats and chickens.
When you're learning to program you often have to sacrifice learning the exciting and current technologies in favor of the "beginner friendly" classes. With this course, you get the best of both worlds. This is a course designed for the complete beginner, yet it covers some of the most exciting and relevant topics in the industry.
Throughout the brand new version of the course we cover tons of tools and technologies including:
HTML5
CSS3
Flexbox
Responsive Design
JavaScript (all 2022 modern syntax)
Asynchronous JavaScript - Promises, async/await, etc.
AJAX and single page apps
Bootstrap 4 and 5 (alpha)
SemanticUI
Bulma CSS Framework
DOM Manipulation
Unix(Command Line) Commands
NodeJS
NPM
ExpressJS
Templating
REST
SQL vs. NoSQL databases
MongoDB
Database Associations
Schema Design
Mongoose
Authentication From Scratch
Cookies & Sessions
Authorization
Common Security Issues - SQL Injection, XSS, etc.
Developer Best Practices
Deploying Apps
Cloud Databases
Image Upload and Storage
Maps and Geocoding
This course is also unique in the way that it is structured and presented. Many online courses are just a long series of "watch as I code" videos. This course is different. I've incorporated everything I learned in my years of teaching to make this course not only more effective but more engaging. The course includes:
Lectures
Code-Alongs
Projects
Exercises
Research Assignments
Slides
Downloads
Readings
Too many pictures of my dog Rusty

full stack
I highly recommend this course for those who are starting out and want an overview of full stack web development.
If you can't follow along and finish till the very end, web engineer (front-end/back-end/full stack) may not suit you.
Es el mejor curso para aprender desde cero, te enseña completamente a ser un desarrollador web full stack.
Highly recommend This course gave me a great introduction to full stack development and Colt is a great instructor!
Really enjoyed learning how to make full stack web sites using HTML, CSS and Javascript.
I've never taken a "full stack" course before but I feel like you gave us something worth at least $1,000 if not thousands for ridiculously much less.
Colt is very laid back and easy going guy so you'll have no rush while taking the course, he also gives a good unbiased idea of full stack development and you'll need to decide if you're more into back or front end yourself.
I found this course very detailed; it was a great introduction to a lot of features involved in full stack web development, including some more advanced topics.
Great course to get a foothold with full stack development in JS.
The course is pretty good, It can help you undestand how full stack web development works as a whole.
I strongly recommend everyone who wants to be a full stack developer / backend developer, the only "against" is that the last videos(after section 35 i guess) were recorded in 2017 and some parts need (and should have been) updated, but nothing the community does not help with in the questions below the videos!
Anyone looking to start the full stack web development from scratch, Colt should be the guy.
This is by far the best course on Udemy for full stack web development.
Overall it gives good fundamentals to start as a full stack developer.

advanced web developer bootcamp
Good match for me, heading to Advanced Web Developer bootcamp now.
It follows a logical sequence and it pretty accessible It was actually so good I went looking for Colt's next course - Advanced Web developer bootcamp, and bought that too Course content is good, although things are repeated often and pacing could be a bit fast.
Looking for to the Advanced Web Developer BootCamp Almost done with lectures (80%), and i have learned so much about fullstack dev, some may say the content is outdated, but the logic is the same, the instructor explains so well that i understood 99% if not 100% of all what he explained, i took couples of backend course, chat apps prior to this, but they were too basic, or not explaining that well so i had to figure out a lot of content by myself, or just didn't understand most of the time.
I made it halfway through the front-end section of the course before I bought Colt's 'advanced web developer bootcamp.'
Great course but didn't cover all topics....need to refer advanced web developer bootcamp ..... Great course, easy to follow.
Only gripe is that it is somewhat outdated now - there is a part 2 to this course called the Advanced Web Developer Bootcamp.
I am looking to go through his advanced web developer bootcamp course as well, after finishing this gem...Thanks a lot Colt for this course...Hats off to you!!
I am now on The Advanced Web Developer Bootcamp (designed as a sequel), which is a great step forward to actually become an advanced web developer, so there's a great path for students to go down who take this course who want to go from beginner to advanced with two courses!
And I also joined his Advanced Web developer BootCamp course.
Next step -> The Advanced Web Developer Bootcamp!
By the way, for people who want to learn more about advanced web development, you can join Colts Advanced Web Developer Bootcamp on Udemy.
I may not continue to the Advanced Web Developer Bootcamp or the Angular course by Max depending on my mastery of this course.
With the combo : The Web Developer Bootcamp and The Advanced Web Developer Bootcamp i feel prepared to search for a job.
The victory is bitter sweet because I now have 23 MORE hours of instruction to go through with Colts new course "Advanced Web Developer Bootcamp."

worth every penny
This course It's definitely worth every penny...!!!
In saying that I think this course was worth every penny if this course was like 400 id have an issue maybe but for 10-13 euros its perfect it gave me the confidence and mindset I need to continue onto another course, I plan on studying computer science but I wanted a head start as this is my dream job and like Id love to do it as a career.
Phenomenal and worth every penny!
I had no idea how to build a website and my website is coming together smoothly and almost live, Everything is easy to follow along and understand and when I post a question on the discussion board I always get accurate help, Worth every penny!
This course is worth every penny.
Worth every penny spent!
Even though there are some unfinished lessons it's worth every penny!
TL;DR IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY (I would even say that it is undervalued), BEST COURSE IN MY LIFE (for real).
This course is worth every penny to those looking to start learning about the world of Front End development.
This is an excellent course, worth every penny and every minute invested.
I was very hesitant at first about buying the courses, but I got it during the new years sale at a huge discount and it's been worth every penny and more.
Beyond that though, this really is worth every penny especially if bought on sale!
Worth every penny, just do it already!!
It's still a great course, and it's worth every penny.

tricky stuff
Some constructive criticism: Given that the majority of learners doing this course are beginners, it would be a good idea to remove the last section of the course (Section 41: JavaScript: The Tricky Stuff) and replace it with: 1. a review of what the learner has covered over the duration of the course, 2. how the learner could compile their completed projects to create a starter portfolio 3. advice of getting their first developer role 4. followed by some next steps on continuing their journey as a developer(i.e.
advice on possible next learning paths and courses) Section 41: JavaScript: The Tricky Stuff, doesn't feel like it connects with the content of this course and feels like it leaves the learner hanging at the end of the course.
I wish that the JavaScript 'tricky stuff' came in a lot earlier since it would have helped some understanding when using constructors functions in YelpCamp but overall I thought this was a great course and I will definitely come back to it if I need to refresh some JavaScript skills!
Just felt a little rushed at the end with the Javascript Tricky Stuff section, but apart form that a great course !
The only thing is that the Tricky Stuff part does not include the ES6 Stuff like async, classes and other.
The "JavaScript: The Tricky Stuff" section felt kind of tacked on at the end, but the info it contained was still really awesome and important to know.
Since I am a beginner, that Colt teaches some interesting topics before the tricky stuff is a good way for me - I developed an interest in coding.
A lot of tricky stuff made simple.
The recent additional material at the end (javascript tricky stuff) is a useful bonus, but as mentioned a few more lectures on ES6 would help bring the course up to date.
I wish the "Javascript: The Tricky Stuff" would have had a bit more explanations and examples though.
Elie hauls ass though and I do feel like that last section dedicated to javascript tricky stuff was a bit rushed.
Unfortunately he doesn't teach Section 41: JS Tricky Stuff and it makes a big difference.
the only thing i have encountered a problem with is at the end is the javascript tricky stuff.
4) The last section - javascript- the tricky stuff - is pure gold.

java script
The learning experience has been amazing, Colt is a naturally gifted teacher, however i feel like much more real life projects need to be added into the java script section to make the section interesting.
So good to get Java Script and jQuery under my skill set now.
So far, you have set out the course in detail and I can see that it appears to tick all the boxes of what I would like to achieve I am really excited with the fact i will learn web development and how to programm in java script Realmente esta super bien, pero el idioma me complica pero allí voy paso a paso.
I am half way into this course I feel very good with exposure I have got in such a short time I now understand how make web sites interactive along side styling techniques my understanding of Java script and jQuery has greatly increased through this class as a beginner and thanks for support Colt and Ian this course will take you through the basics of web development up to intermediate javascript.
now i can do it with node js and colt explains everything from basics you will learn java script and when you start to learn node js you will feel comfortable with it!
Huge course which covers basics of HTML and CSS and mainly focussed on Java Script.
Definitely a great into for web development, but outdated, as in does not teach the latest java script such as other courses.
Excellent beginner's course, but sadly doesn't mention how to implement the backend part for one-page-apps at all (even though it lays down most the ground work, ie building front-end one-page apps, REST routes, Java Script, etc) What an amazing course.
I also finally understand java script, which is basic language used in this course in frontend and backend site of the web application.
After this course a lot of people recommend Java Script Understanding the Weird parts, and for me i'd add a CSS one in there too.
Colt was a very funny and enlightening teacher, You can tell this is not his first time teaching, the only thing I hated was after this long journey , There wasnt any real "closure" which is funny because the last class is called closures but thats for java script you come to like colt and it all just ends.
I have 30+ years of programming experience in an old procedural language and wanted to learn java script, along with HTML & CSS.
The only bad bits were the authentication lectures and the last section on java script which was just too quick and I did not understand much but will be sure to re watch it couple of times.
You will still need to learn more of html, css, java script, express, nodejs, etc.

google maps
It's Colt's course, which is rather incomplete ( no Google Maps integration, as shown, and no second section on Authentication, as specified by Colt ) and... Who the heck is Ian?
The only thing that I wished it happened is that google maps API was added and also moment.js for some extra features in YelpCamp.
extra videos on how to migrate to a different IDE after Cloud9 was shut down, migration to Bootstrap 4, new procedures for setting up MongoDB and the Google Maps integration, et cetera).
However, I would urge Colt to include the lessons used for making a social networking site like facebook, install other features like google maps in a website and the use of gps in some sites like uber.
- google maps?
Just so you know: enytime you hear Colt say "Don't worry we'll get there" (landing page, google maps, github) the chances are you won't.
Wish that the extra projects (UI improvements, Google Maps, etc were incorporated into the course.
He did not cover everything he said he will demonstrate in this course (github, google maps in show campgrounds, ...).
We also didn't put the finishing touches on YelpCamp like adding Google maps, improving the UI, finishing the Landing page ext.
I know that YelpCamp already takes up a lot of the class time, but I wish that Colt would walk through a few more things with YelpCamp such as the Google Maps API.
Towards the end, I found a few lectures missing on topics Colt says he would to cover, like integration of Google Maps, introduction to GitHub, etc.
I feel there were a few features that were not explored when wrapping up the Yelpcamp app that had been demonstrated or alluded to at various points within in course (such as the google maps integrations, and some additional styling elements) that were never implemented in the code alongs.
One quibble: I hope that Colt adds a unit at some point where he builds out the rest of YelpCamp to its "final" version, which would include Google Maps, the starred ratings functionality, and, hopefully, some AJAX, say, when submitting comments.
Only thing I didn't like was that the YelpCamp project in the course wasn't entirely complete (the adding of reviews and google maps functionality weren't included).

computer science student
Very Informative As a Computer Science student, I wasn't sure how much I would learn.
awesome i'm a computer science student, but i haven't taken any classes on web programming.
best I'm a 3rd year computer science student and unfortunately learning ASM / HASKELL / PROLOG / C has not really helped me with any modern coding techniques.
Being a non Computer Science student , I had very limited knowledge about Programming .It was my luck, one of my friend provided this course but the way everything is explained here, never felt that I am learning something which is not in my domain.
I've recommended it to a lot of my friends who are also Computer Science students.
I am a computer science student and would recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn web programming.
Thank you I've really enjoyed the course, as a university computer science student I found this course at a very good level The best ever course i have ever enrolled in.
I'm a computer science student and have wanted to learn practical web development for a while, but have been so overwhelmed; the amount of technologies out there make it difficult to parse what is really important.
As a computer science student, I feel like this course is the perfect introduction to Web Development.

short period of time
Colt's style of teaching is engaging and has helped me understand the concepts fairly well in such a short period of time.
The course is very comprehensive and educational, I learned a lot in such a short period of time.
This is an excellent course; I learned a lot in a very short period of time.
You will learn a lot in a short period of time.
Easy to understand as a beginer This course taught me a whole of lot of things about web development in a short period of time.
The course is incredible, I have obtained a lot of new information and can create simple web applications already in a very short period of time.

get your feet wet
In short the course is a very good get your feet wet into fullstack web development.
This is the best all around course to get your feet wet in the front end and back end.
It is the a great course to get your feet wet.
Ones suggestion is maybe add a section about a front-end framework like Angular/React/Vue, just to get your feet wet, then the alumn can take it from there.
Best program to get your feet wet in the game.

yelp camp project
This tutorial's Yelp Camp project is probably good enough for my portfolio.
Also it would of been nice if the full completion of the Yelp Camp project was included in the course lectures.
The big Yelp Camp project is really close to a real time website with many upgrade possibilities.
Slight issue is finish of Yelp Camp project.
The Yelp camp project is a framework oriented project and doesn't provide necessary basics for a beginner to learn about how a decouple backend and frontend works.
The front end part is very good, since the course is from before ES6 some of the material is kinda outdated, Colt doesn't talk about arrow functions or let/const for example, another problem is the back end that is lacking, I needed some exercises or a better explanation sometimes, and when I ended the yelp camp project I felt like I couldn't do another project like the yelp camp by myself.
Especially the Yelp Camp project could be improved and also some lessons could be completed (Git & GitHub for instance).
After finishing : Although I probably know enough to get by and make similar websites to the Yelp Camp project, it feels like there's a lot still missing and I feel sort of lost, where do I go, what do I learn next?

little slow at times
May be a little slow at times if you have a very basic understanding of a specific aspect.
The only gripe I have is that it is a little slow at times, but working through it is still rewarding.
The pacing is a little slow at times, especially for me being someone who already knows how to program in other languages like Java.
I have coded in other languages and so found the course a little slow at times but that was no problem as as Udemy let me hear Colt speak at 2x speed!

free code camp
(Free Code Camp) my overall experience is great till now, you are a great teacher It’s my first online course, I am really excisted about it, and until now it seems to be helpfull, and I hope I will keep my motivation till the end.
I've learned a lot of html, css, and js on free code camp, but this course showed me how to put it all together properly.
My background: earned a minor in C++ during 4-year college, didn't use it for 4 years, checked out a little web dev on free code camp and code academy, but neither of those stuck.
He's a great teacher and I've learned a lot that I didn't learn from doing Free Code Camp and CodeAcademy.
I have used various learning resources to study web development, first with Code Academy, then with Free Code Camp and Coursera.
I have previously done around 300 Free Code Camp challenges and while good I didn't feel it was engaging due to lack of project examples.
