En este módulo analizaremos las diferentes definiciones del término crédito, así como una breve historia de éste, desde sus orígenes, alrededor del 1100 a. C., con la cultura fenicia, hasta nuestros días, con diferentes títulos e instrumentos de crédito.

Departamento de crédito y cobranza
En toda empresa es necesario un Departamento de Crédito y Cobranza que permita planear la función, a través de una estructura y funciones bien delimitadas; por ende, analizaremos los diferentes tamaños y tipos de organización, que orillan a diferentes estructuras y alcances de dicho departamento.
Políticas de crédito y cobranza
Recuerda que una política es una guía de actuación de carácter general y sujeta a revisión periódica; en tal sentido, las políticas de crédito deben considerar el tipo de producto o servicio que ofrece, la clientela a quien va dirigida y las condiciones económicas imperantes, de tal forma que se debe considerar la aplicación de políticas liberales o conservadoras, que guíen las decisiones de otorgamiento de créditos, en términos de monto, plazo, tiempo, tasa y descuentos, así como el lugar, forma de pago e intereses moratorios, para el caso de la cobranza.
Análisis de crédito
Si bien existen diferentes herramientas para analizar el otorgamiento de un crédito, emplearemos el de las 5 C´s del crédito, a través de la cual se realiza un estudio del carácter, capacidad, capital, colateral y condiciones del cliente y la operación solicitada; lo anterior con el objetivo de minimizar los riesgos de cobranza en los créditos emitidos.
Cobranza
Exploramos los diferentes instrumentos de crédito que nos permiten ejercer la cobranza de los créditos pactados, así como los métodos para recordarle a nuestra clientela de sus pagos y qué hacer en caso de una cobranza sin éxito.
