In this course, we will focus on the following key aspects:
Painting Grapes – Grapes are a popular subject in Asian brush painting, and the techniques you learn here can be applied to many other fruits.
Leaves and Vines – You will first learn to paint leaves and then vines, allowing you to create complete grape compositions. Vine painting is an important subject in Chinese Freehand Painting, opening the door to mastering other plants with similar characteristics.
Adding Bees – As a delightful final touch, you will learn to paint bees—small yet vibrant creatures that bring life and charm to your artwork.
Materials
The materials needed for this course are standard for Chinese brush painting, including:
Brushes of various sizes
Ink
A selection of colors
Rice paper
Course Objective
By the end of this course, you will have completed three full paintings and gained the foundational skills to create many more. Naturally, mastery requires continued practice beyond the course, but this is the perfect place to start your journey into Chinese Freehand Painting.
