Want to Make $10,000 Or More per Year Authoring Udemy Courses?

The Udemy team recently announced that 1/4 of its instructors make more than $10,000 per year selling their Udemy courses online. More than $10,000.  I personally make well over $30,000 per year.  That's a lot of passive income to simply watch pass you by without acting. Maybe it's time you considered taking your piece of the pie.

Course Introduction

In this overview of the course I discuss each of the eight major sections in the course which pretty much lays out the course production process, not that you won't learn even more about creating courses for udemy in the next couple of lectures.

In this two slide lecture I show how Udemy works from preparing and submitting your course through sales and payment. The view is at the highest level but I still hope this provides a good overview of what we're about to undertake.

In this lecture we discuss the hardware and software requirements of preparing a udemy course. Although the initial investment can be steep if you're starting from scratch, most of us have a PC or Mac with much of the required software already installed. With a little luck, you can get started for the cost of a $69 pair of microphone headphones.

In this lecture we review alternate sources of udemy production information as almost a prerequisite to this course, the most important being the udemy staff course on creating a udemy course. I don't think it replaces this course, but it sure is good for free.

Introduction to Initial Setup

This lecture shows you how to create a Udemy account in preparation for becoming an instructor or purchasing courses on the site.

In this lecture we go through the steps required to become a premium udemy instructor. You can not charge for your courses until you become a premium instructor.

In this lecture we look at where to find the software for installation. We also look at checking to see if you have Microsoft Office preinstalled on your system. If you do, the software is free and all you need to spend is about $70 on a decent headset microphone.

Introduction to Finding Your Niche

In this lecture we learn how to scope out the potential competition using the course search function of udemy. During the lecture we discuss ways to add keywords to your course title to refine your search and find a competative niche.

Using the Udemy Insights Feature to Check out the Scene (2017 Extension)

In this lecture we create a course by supplying the minimal information required, mainly a title.

In this lecture we fill out the Basic information page to begin defining the contents of our book. We discuss the importance of selecting a short but keyword rich title, a descriptive subtitle, and a competitive category for your new course to improve search and browsing hit results.

This lecture discusses the use of the udemy Curriculum tool to layout an outline for your course. It includes information on adding and renaming sections and lectures as well as deleting and moving these two basic building blocks.

Creating a Course Image
Introduction to Creating a Course Image

In this lecture I provide a very quick overview of using the Gnu Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) to produce a 960px x 540px udemy image. Use your favorite tool be it the premiere Adobe tools or something that came pre-installed with your operating system. In two more lectures I'll show you how to use PowerPoint instead to create udemy images.

In this lecture we consider an alternative to the traditional graphics manipulation program such as the GIMP or Adobe Illustrator or Premier by using PowerPoint to create course production graphics, in this case a course logo.

An update to the original course outlining Udemy's ban on text in the course image along with a workaround if you really can't live without it (which I suggest your try).

In this lecture we look at directory organization and file naming standards that will help you to keep the multitude of files generated by the udemy course creation process organized. Follow these steps and you should be able to find everything you need to finish course production (this won't be easy if you don't start organizing your files early).

In this lecture we look at recording PowerPoint presentation which in the end turn out to cause little difference to the recording method other than requiring that the on screen cursor be disabled.

Introduction to Simple PowerPoint 2013 (and 2016) Slides and Animation

In this section introduction I attempt the impossible, to provide an overview of PowerPoint in preparation for a demonstration of using PowerPoint to produce Production Logos, Course Logos, and Lecture Slides. I hope this is enough and complain via comments if it isn't and I'll try to add more based on your notes.

In this lecture I go wild and show you the entire production process using PowerPoint to animate my production logo and in the process produce the very video you find at the front of each lecture in this course.

In this lecture we focus on PowerPoint as we show how to animate the course image to produce what I refer to as the course logo. I typically speak over the course logo as I will speak over this course logo during this course. Confused? Don't be, it will all become clear by the end of the lecture.

In this lecture, we show how to use simple animation to snaz up a standard PowerPoint slide presentation. Also discussed is controlling the presentation via on click and with previous configurations.
