WORKSHEET AND EXAMPLE: Runner game keyword research

In the last lecture of our ASO course, we talked about doing ASO keyword research and in this lecture we talk about how to get your app to actually rank highly for those keywords, and how to move your app up in the rankings if it is not ranking highly. I talk specifically what the app stores look for in your app to decide whether to rank your app highly or not.

WORKSHEET: ASO engagement signal optimization

Free keywords that you don't need to add to Apple App store keyword field

In this part of our ASO course, I explain how to write the mobile app title for ASO and to get people to take interest in the app. The title should be keyword rich, but should also be interesting and exciting for people who are browsing the app stores. Your title must really jump out and grab attention.

In this part of our ASO and app store marketing course, I explain how to write the app description to get more downloads. Your app store description should have just the right balance of keywords and a good range of keywords, but also it should be interesting for the human readers, and not just the search engines.

In this lecture of our ASO course, I talk about what to do if you have to make your app rank for competitive and difficult keywords. Most apps are in ASO niches that have very competitive keywords. So it you have a game app, social app, photo sharing app, puzzle app, business app, health and fitness app, then this lecture of the course is an important one for you.

This is the first exercise in this mobile app marketing course. I put it in the beginning of the course because I wanted to make sure that you are active in taking the course and not just passively watching the tutorials.

Here is another simple exercise you can do to start this mobile app marketing and ASO course to immediately get more downloads for your app.

Your app icon should get people's attention and help you get more downloads. If your app icon is awesome and bright, you can use it to get attention and get people to stop browsing and take a closer look at your app. The app icon is the only visual aspect of your app listing that people see when they browse the app stores and when your app appears next to other apps. So if your app icon is cooler and flashier, it can get your app more downloads.

Launching your app like a pro

In this lecture of the training I talk about how to launch your app. I give you 3 unique strategies to launch your app, and the beauty of them is that they can all be done together, with one going right after another. A single app or product launch is a myth for the consumers. As the app entrepreneur, I will fill you in on how to get the most out of your app launch and get as many downloads, users and exposure out of your launch as possible.

WORKSHEET: App launch plan
Increasing positive ASO signals to boost your ranking

You want to keep people from uninstalling your app, and in this lecture of our training I explain exactly what to do to drastically decrease the amount of people who uninstall your mobile app.

This part of the course is a continuation of ASO. In fact, this is where we get into more advanced ASO strategies.

In this part of our ASO course, I talk about the importance of session length and its impact on ASO. It is very important to keep increasing the session length of your app. The session length is essentially the amount of time that the person keeps the app open each time they open the app. Session lengths are one of the top measures of engagement, and it is crucial that you work to keep increasing the session length for your app. In this part of the training I give a number of suggestions for how you can increase the session length for your app.

Every app must get good reviews. If it has good reviews, more people will download it, and it the app has bad reviews, fewer people will download it. In this lecture I give you tips to make sure that you have very good reviews for your mobile app. In this part of our app marketing course I talk about the importance of reviews in app stores and its impact on your ASO ranking.

Just like it is important to increase the session length for your app when people open your app, it is equally important to get people to actually open your app on a regular basis. In this lecture of the course I talk about how to make your app more of an every day use app, and what kinds of features make people open the app regularly, and help to make it a habit for people to open and use your app.

Learn effective app monetization strategies

In this part of the mobile app marketing course I go over the ways you can make money from your app when your app is free. This is called the Freemium business model, and it is a very popular business model for apps. Freemium is actually the most common and most popular business model for mobile apps. In this part of the course I discuss different kinds or ads, in-app purchases, subscriptions and more.

Apple revenue share goes down to 15% instead of 30%

In this part of the training I discuss whether your app should be free or paid. This is a big decision, and it is a big decision especially on Android and GooglePlay because once you make an app free or paid, and publish that app, you can never change that. You can change the price if the app is paid on Android, but you can never make it free.

So the decision of whether your app should be free or paid is a big one, and requires quite a bit of thought. This also effects how you position some of the features inside the app so whether you make the app paid or free will have a very large impact on your overall app business.

In this part of our mobile app marketing and monetization course I talk about monetizing with ads with a strategy called the rewarded ads strategy. This is one of the most effective ways to make money on apps with ads.

The best way to make money from mobile apps, whether they are iPhone, iPad or Android is this specific monetization method. Many people think that subscriptions are the best way to monetize apps, but the truth is that the best way to make money from apps is the strategy outlined in this lecture of the course. This strategy is sometimes called the whale monetization strategy. Call it what you will, but it is a fantastic way to make money from apps if you can manage to pull it off.

Smart ad mediation is another good way to increase your mobile app ad revenue. It isn't easy to do, but it is possible to boost your mobile app ad revenue with mobile app ad mediation. Although, as you know, ads are not my favorite way to make money from your mobile app.

This is a relatively new lecture in this apps course. In this lecture I explain how to make money from your app in additional ways like writing a book based on your app or creating an online course based on your app.

You can use discount sites to promote your app if you have either discount promotions from the full price of your app, or in-app purchase discounts. Not many people know about this app marketing strategy, but discounting is a really good marketing tactic that you should try. Also paid to free and vice versa strategies work.

I share my own feelings about different types of businesses in this section

In this lecture of the course I talk about some of the common issues I see in my coaching practice where I help new mobile app entrepreneurs with their mobile apps. I notice that many new app entrepreneurs focus on making games, social media apps, dating apps, photo apps, and other apps that are in very competitive business spaces. So in this vide I talk about what you might want to think about if your app is in one of those business niches or a similar competitive space.

Reskinning apps has recently been a big top in the mobile app world, and many people have started reskinning apps. In this tutorial I explain what is app reskinning, how people start reskinning apps, and whether reskinning apps is a good business long and short term. This course isn't specifically about reskinning, but I felt that I should address it with at least one lecture because it is such a popular topic.

Protecting intellectual property and your ideas

If you want to protect your app's intellectual property, in this part of our app business course, I explain the 6 ways you can protect various IP (intellectual property) of your mobile apps.

If you are not a developer - some options to create your app
Outsourcing section introduction

Many non-technical app entrepreneurs need to work with a software developer or a team of engineers to program their app. The problem is that hiring software engineers is expensive and hiring software development agencies is even more expensive. The free options for the non technical app startup founders are to learn to code or to find a co-founder who is a mobile app developer. All of these 4 options (hiring developers or hiring an agency or learning to code or finding a technical co-founder) are very difficult. And in this lecture of the course I discuss pros and cons of each strategy.

Outsourcing nightmares from my clients

You can take courses on Udemy to learn to code and program your apps, and you can use websites like StackOverflow.com to get help if you get stuck. I recommend that you consider learning to code before hiring an agency or developers to program the app for you.
