Accessible Technology for Inclusion aims to provide students with the tools and knowledge for the creation of accessible digital content, i.e., that complies with the European standard UNE-EN 301 549:2022, “Accessibility requirements suitable for public procurement of ICT products and services in Europe”. In Spain, this standard has materialized in the UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard developed by AENOR.

This standard details the requirements that ICT products and services must meet in order to be accessible to everyone, from cell phones to computers, including web pages; thus, the requirements for the web are based on the WCAG 2.1 web content accessibility guidelines, developed by W3C.

In order to disseminate these requirements and that people who generate digital content, whether for web, mobile, or documents, do it in an accessible and inclusive way. Some basic notions of accessibility that will make that all people can consume the digital content created regardless of whether they have some kind of functional diversity.

Under this premise is born the course “Accessible Technology for inclusion”, carried out under the collaboration between the DicaTIC Chair and the ONCE Foundation and whose content has been funded by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana.

  • The course content consists of video tutorials that serve as a tool to implement all the accessibility requirements to be met by digital content, with these videos students can learn the tools for both accessible creation and testing the accessibility of ict resources already created.
  • The last module of the course is composed of testimonial videos of people with different disabilities who tell what their disability is and what it consists of, what are the most common barriers they encounter daily with ict products and services and what are the tools they use to access the contents. they also propose solutions to the main accessibility problems.
