Setting up ComfyUI and Stable Cascade

Using ComfyUI low VRAM mode, it is possible to run on mid-range RTX gaming cards, and to complete the course exercises, but it may take a lot longer.  At least 30 GB of fast storage is required to operate successfully with Stable Cascade when doing this course, 80 GB is recommended

Hardware can be optimized for use with Stable Cascade.  Learn how to activate Low VRAM in ComfyUI, how to effectively cards with less VRAM than the recommended 20 GB, and the pros and cons of using different Stable Cascade model variants.

Adding a small Stable Diffusion checkpoint, Dreamshaper 8, allows us to complete the basic ComfyUI installation.

In this lecture we install two exceptionally useful plugins or custom nodes for ComfyUI.

Installing the models takes a bit of knowhow, and getting it wrong will mean the workflows will not work.  This lecture requires careful attention.

A very short and basic introduction into the ComfyUI user interface.

Exploring Workflows

In this lecture we explore the basic Stable Cascade workflow which is very different from that used in Stable Diffusion - for smooth operation please ensure that you have installed the relevant Stable Cascade models before attempting to import this workflow.

It's possible to work with a very wide variety of aspect ratios, natively in Stable Cascade, but there are some challenges.  This lecture provides clues as to how to amend the designs attained at 16:9 1920 by 1080 px ratio.

Stable Cascade is excellent at intepreting letter and word prompts.  Some suggestions on how to get excellent results.

AI Generated Prompts and High Resolution

How to access new prompts with help from Generative AI - this lecture helps viewers to develop workflows that mimic the dynamic relationship with ChatGPT4 and Dall-E 3.


We also attempt some settings to achieve images at 2048 x 2048 which Stable Cascade can achieve without upscaling!
