Syllabus

Introduction

We have two groups of students, ones that did my deep tissue trigger point massage course on the upper back, neck, shoulders and head and then the other group that didn't do it. Here is where you should start the course depending on those factors.

This is the number 1 reason I didn't use trigger point therapy in my spa even though I knew it was effective. My clients wouldn't come back even if I fixed their pain.

This is the number 2 reason I didn't use trigger point therapy in my spa even though I knew it was effective. I was too overwhelmed and there was no way I would remember all of the information so I gave up on it.

Download your trigger point chart Ebook that I have for you

Ok, so what exactly is a trigger point and what makes it so important that we deactivate them?

Now that you know what one is, this is why trying to stretch a trigger point without deactivating them is futile

Here are some easy tools and things that you can use to save your hands and thumbs

I want you to start thinking not only about your clients thats have pain and stiffness but also your sports people and athletes or even just people that are active in the gym. Trigger point deep tissue massage is also great for performance enhancing and injury prevention so you can market those benefits to your clients as well.

This is an important lecture because if you don't get this correct it can be difficult to use the techniques effectively

Here is a summary of how we will use our hands, soft fists and forearms so that the massage feels amazing not only for your client but also for you!

For those of you that did not do my first deep tissue trigger point massage certificate course, here is the full back sequence. In the first course I told you that we would build on from this sequence to eventually get a full body deep tissue trigger point massage. If you haven't seen the first course or just would like a refresher here it is for you.

You can join our FB group and ask questions with thousands of students as well

As you are about to see, you will not have to try to remember different muscles and their trigger points like you normally would. This will just be a logical progression as we simply add a  muscle group or two from the lower back treatment when it comes to working on the buttocks and hips.

Let's start with looking at the trigger points for the deep posterior back muscles. As usual, it's all straight forward and easy to learn

Now we will look at the trigger points area of the superficial back muscles that we need to focus on.

Here is an incredibly important muscle that is involved in lower back pain and also buttock pain (but more about that later)

The gluteals are also contributors to lower back and buttock pain so let's have a quick little look at these as well

This is a really important lecture!

Here is the lower back sequence for you

I understand that there are a couple of other muscles that can be involved sometimes but this is really IMPORTANT that you see why we are focusing on these.

Remember, if you are massaging and the client says 'yes! thats the spot...I can feel the same pain!' , then thats the major one you need to work on. Does this mean you only work that trigger point? No, not at all but it will be given the majority of your focus.

Now I will show you where we can add the lower back sequence to the original back massage you learned in the first course(or in there second section of this course)

These two are also very important so let's have a quick look at them and their referral zones

The Gluteus Maximus is another very easy one to remember. Its right above the piriformis trigger point

It doesn't get any easier than this! As I promised, we will simply just build on the lower back trigger points massage that you have already learned (with a very slight modification) to now treat someone that has buttock pain.

Now its time to perform the massage and trigger point therapy on the buttocks and hips area

You now have the skills with what you already know to start seeing spectacular results with those clients that come to you complaining of lower back pain and buttock pain

Now we can work the back of the legs to help with both back and buttock pain focusing on these muscles

Here is the deep tissue massage for the legs in a prone position. Then all you do from this is adapt it with more focus on the muscles that refer pain such as buttock pain that you have already learned. (which I will show you what to do)

Now I am going to show you how you can do the more specific focused massage work on the Soleus, Semitendinosus/Semimembranos trigger points to your treatment

Now lets look at the soleus

Treating trigger points with hip pain is very simple. Here we will go through the muscles that refer pain to the hips

Now lets address these trigger points

...and now to these!

Treating trigger points with sacral pain is once again very simple. Here we will go through the muscles that refer to the sacrum

Now lets take a look at treating sciatica and the muscles that can be involved

These two muscles on the front of the body can refer pain to the lower back as well

Now we will look at how we would treat someone that has not come for a relaxing or deep tissue massage with some extra work on the area that is slightly troubling them. This is how we would do a therapeutic treatment for someone that comes to see you with pain that they want fixed. That is why they are here.

You can treat these next two muscles at the same time from the same position

Now we will treat this muscle from a side lying position

Now it's treatment time!

Let's now take a look at the muscles involved for hamstring pain and stiffness and how we would treat them

Lets now work the biceps femoris

Now its time to start working in a supine position

Here is the complete supine legs sequence for you to learn and then practice to

Let's now take a look at the muscles involved for outside (lateral) thigh pain and how we would treat them

Let's now take a look at the muscles involved for ITB pain and how we would treat them

Let's now take a look at the muscles involved for Outside (lateral) knee pain and how we would treat them

Let's now take a look at the muscles involved for Back (posterior) knee pain and how we would treat them

Here I show you how to massage the trigger points for the Gastrocnemius and Popliteus

Let's now take a look at the muscles involved for front (anterior) knee pain and how we would treat them

Here I show you how to massage the trigger points for the adductor muscles

Here I show you how to massage the trigger points for the Rectus femoris

Let's now take a look at the muscles involved for Inside (medial) knee pain and how we would treat them

Here I show you how to massage the trigger points for the Vastus medialis and Sartorius

Do you remember how to treat the muscles of the legs, their trigger points and referral patterns without the charts?

Here is your area to practice without the charts if you want to really make sure that you have remembered the trigger points and their referral patterns. These are the deep tissue trigger point massage treatments for the legs that I have shown you in a prone position

Here is your area to practice without the charts if you want to really make sure that you have remembered the trigger points and their referral patterns. These are the deep tissue trigger point massage treatments for the legs that I have shown you in a supine position

You MUST drink water after a massage to DETOXIFY-NO YOU DO NOT. One of the biggest myth perpetuated by some massage therapists all over the World. I was also taught this in massage school. We need to stop telling our massage clients this

Its time to reinforce what you have learned

Congratulations! you have completed the course!
