The Modern JavaScript Bootcamp

Have you tried to learn JavaScript before?

JavaScript is the most popular programming language out there, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to learn. You end up wasting time on out-of-date courses and incomplete YouTube tutorials that talk about a JavaScript features without showing how to use them when building real-world applications.

Sound familiar?

I built this course to teach you how to build and launch your own JavaScript web applications.

The Modern JavaScript Bootcamp starts from scratch and builds up your knowledge of the JavaScript language. Yes, you’ll learn all the features of the language, but you’ll also learn how to use those features together to create a complete application.

This comprehensive course covers the modern ES6 and ES7 JavaScript features used in the real world. You’ll gain an understanding of the latest cutting-edge language features.

Getting experience writing code on your own is a big part of learning JavaScript. That’s why I’ve included over 80 challenges designed to get you writing code, adding app features, and solving a wide range of problems. These challenges will give you the skills and confidence needed to create your own web application.

There are no starter projects here. You’ll see what it takes to launch a JavaScript application, from the first line of code to the final deployed application.

Who’s this course for?

1. People who are brand new to JavaScript. You want to dive into the world of programming and learn JavaScript. This might be your first programming course, or maybe you’ve worked with other languages before. Either way, you’re ready for this bootcamp.

2. People who currently use JavaScript but want a better sense of mastery over the language. You picked up little tricks and snippets of code because you needed to solve a problem. Now you’re ready to master JavaScript as well as explore the latest from ES6 and ES7.

You’ll learn JavaScript by doing, not watching.

This course is not about watching videos, it’s about writing code. From the start, you’ll be building out each project from scratch as well as completing over 80 challenges designed to test and reinforce what you’ve learned.

During the class, you’ll build three JavaScript applications:

1. The first app, a note-taking app, is our starter application. You’ll learn the fundamentals of JavaScript and see exactly what it takes to build a program that allows users to add, edit, delete, and save their notes.

2. The second app, a to-do application, you’ll be building on your own. This will test your skills and ensure that you have the real-world experience and problem-solving skills that are essential for writing JavaScript code.

3. The last app, a hangman word game, is used to explore the world of asynchronous JavaScript. You’ll learn how to set up applications that rely on data from third-party services that can offer up dynamic, real-time information such as the user’s current location.

Stay current in an ever changing world.

The world of JavaScript is always changing, and that’s why I work to keep this course as up-to-date as possible. You can join knowing you’ll be learning the fundamentals of the language as well as the new language features that keep coming out.

This course uses the latest language features from ES6 and ES7.

Everything you need comes in one easy-to-use package.

There’s no need to worry if you’re learning the right skills to land that JavaScript job or launch that JavaScript app. I’ve mapped out everything you need to know in an interactive, easy-to-follow package designed to get you up and running in a couple of weeks.

By the end, you’ll be able to build and launch your own applications.

There’s no better time to learn JavaScript.

You’ve made a smart choice, because JavaScript is the most popular programming language out there. This is no exaggeration. This popularity and growth means more jobs and opportunities than ever before.

JavaScript powers the web. That means every company out there uses JavaScript, and the demand for JavaScript developers is only increasing. Companies from Google and Apple to Udemy itself all use JavaScript extensively.

JavaScript doesn’t stop with the web. It has quickly become a universal programming language capable of anything. JavaScript can be used to create desktop apps, server-side applications, native iOS/Android applications, and so much more. This course is your ticket into that ecosystem.

Get access to fast support if you get stuck.

There’s nothing worse than getting stuck ten hours into a course and not getting the help you need to continue. Getting stuck is part of the learning process. That’s why I’m here to answer every single question that comes my way.

I’ll work with you to get you unstuck and back on track. It’s one of the reasons students love taking my courses. Don’t take my word for it. Check out the student reviews below.

“This is the absolute best course I've taken on Udemy. Andrew is amazing at explaining things concisely, and the flow of the course is perfect. He doesn't skip over anything and he doesn't over-explain anything. On top of all that, he responds to questions so quickly that you won't be stuck at any point." - Tanya Gamarian

"The lessons are of high quality and even more important, he actually takes time to answer your questions. " - Thomas Vercamer

I guarantee that this is the most up-to-date and engaging JavaScript course available, and it comes with a Udemy 30-day money-back guarantee.

I can’t wait to see you on the inside.

- Andrew

Really enjoy your courses Andrew, you clearly know your subjects but can pace things well for newbies such as myself so we don't get completely lost So far so good, but the Sublime Text Keymap install to Visual Studio Code didn't match the lecture.

Yes, So far so good, just as good as the React/Redux.

step by step

very special simple and complete structure to teach step by step and without bringing confuse to the subjects I'm a web developer attempting to update my skills.

Andrew does a very good job of explaining the concepts well. The concepts are reinforced with challenges as well as the step by step solution.

Best Course on Beginner level JS Great step by step instructions for setting up your development environment.

Like the step by step from the beginning process.

All the concepts are described step by step and in more detail than I have seen in other courses.

As a beginner to JavaScript I was able to follow along well and build up my knowledge step by step.

+ Amazing teaching skills and methods + From simple to complex, step by step learning path + Overwhelmingly satisfying last section about new concepts Andrew has created a great value for money introduction to Javascript.

All the content is clearly explained step by step the chapters are following each others in a logical way without repeating or omitting any point.

He's very thorough and detailed, guiding you step by step through the material.

I'd used utilities in other courses to generate a project that included Babel and/or Webpack but Andrew's manual step by step walk-thru to create your own project template is invaluable for understanding in detail what these utilities do and how they can be configured.

Practical, step by step, real world exercises.

Slowly step by step we can build an awesome application from scratch.

He is astonishing instructor by explaining the code step by step which makes the lesson is easier This is how a Udemy course should be formed: he explains each part of the code, offers plenty of challenges and provides motivation throughout the course.

His teaching style is very fun and easy to follow along with.

Very easy to follow along and the challenges are not too time-consuming but they still help you use the skills that you just learned.

So far this course is easy to follow along, the instructor is not mono toned and dry so I am able to still pay attention.

babel and webpack

● I suggest reworking the section on cutting-edge JavaScript to focus more on updates to ECMAScript than on third-party tools like Babel and Webpack that are external to the language.

Also the new section on cutting edge JavaScript with babel and webpack is a real bonus.

great Babel and webpack section lessons needs to be broken down into smaller videos to make it easier to follow The most thorough javascript course I have ever taken.

This was a great beginning course to get familiar with ES6 and building out applications with Babel and Webpack.

The last section: Cutting-Edge JavaScript with Babel and Webpack is outstanding.

The recently integrated section covering Babel and webpack was a great addition.

Babel and Webpack.

html and css

If you want to take this course and already have experience in one or more programming languages, however, you will find yourself skipping quite a bit of the video content, since very basic concepts such as control structures, basic HTML and CSS as well as methods, functions, objects, ... are explained in great depth as well.

I bought an HTML and CSS course from the lecturer who has the bestseller javascript course on udemy, and he doesn't explain as well Andrew does.

So if you are an absolute beginner, you will likely want to study at least the basics of HTML and CSS using other sources.

:) I came into this course with a basic understanding of JavaScript from previous courses that was more involved with HTML and CSS, and left me unsure of where to go with the knowledge I obtained.

I liked the different structure of the course compared to others of its ilk (HTML and CSS introduced much later into the course).

Though the basics of HTML and CSS are covered in this course make no mistake this is a Java Script course.

If you are looking to learn a lot of HTML and CSS this is not the course for you.

well thought out

He make sure you understand it through well thought out examples and exercises.

But Andrew is a super clear and super organized teacher and the lectures are fascinating and the projects that we built were remarkably well thought out.

There are plenty of exercises and the examples he uses are very well thought out.

The course is very well thought out, starting with the basics and then moving on to complete projects.

These have been well thought out to ensure that you apply the new skills that have been taught in a lecture but often require you to combine them with previous knowledge in order to complete them.

It is comprehensive but very well thought out and methodical.

The content is very decent and well thought out.

even though

I had thought something had gone wrong and even though it looked like I was in the right place, I thought I was in the wrong place.

Even though at times it felt overwhelming, stick with it.

Even though I had already purchased a node.js course to follow this I had to get Andrew's course.

Even though I skipped some parts of the course ( which were for real beginners) I am relearning alot and learning new ways to write cleaner code.

Even though I've learned javascript from other places, this course really helped fill in the gaps.

Even though I already understood the aboslute basics of JavaScript, it still helped me to go through the first few sections.

Even though we are just going over the basics and I've known the basics I could really see how beneficial the course is set up to REALLY learn es6.

Even though I've been in front-end dev for 5 years, I'm following your course from the beginning.

It was well understood So far Yes Step by step instructions and clear speaking voice are excellent Really easy to follow Listening to Andrew is a delight, and even though I am quite experienced in the subject matter, at no point did I find the lessons to be boring or unnecessarily slow.

value for money

But even if I'd paid the full price I would consider it excellent value for money.

For me it was best value for money, No doubt i will continue with the other courses.

This course is incredibly good value for money, the amount of content is ridiculous and will give you a really good base of knowledge to build off of.

Very impressive stuff and one of the best value for money purchases you can make.

sublime text keymap

Sublime Text Keymap has updated to a version called Sublime Text Keymap and Settings Importer, install was slightly different, unsure if it is working.

For example, when installing "Sublime Text Keymap," the option to reload isn't there on my end.

I knew this material but I missed in my previous installs two extensions - Sublime Text Keymap and ES6/ES7.

cutting edge

My only complaint is the last "extra" section on cutting edge javascript is confusing and really slowed my learning momentum with Javascript.

Andrew courses give me cutting edge skills to build my webapps or to find a good job as JS developer.

I went from zero to a very high level of comfort working with Javascript, and have gotten a good basic understanding of development best practices and practical use of some of the most cutting edge technologies.

Andrew is able to instruct on some of the most cutting edge elements that modern JS has to offer!

Amazing course, Andrew covers everything, you start fresh and after watch the entire course, you can create your own web applications with cutting edge features of JavaScript.
