About the coach: Mark Gottfried is currently the Head Coach of the Cal State Univeristy Northridge (CSUN) Matador Men's Basketball Team. He also previously had head coaching stints at North Carolina State University (2011-2017), the University of Alabama (1999-2009) and Murray State University (1995-1998). Gottfried also served as an assistant coach and scout with the Dallas Mavericks. Mark Gottfried was an assistant coach under Jim Harrick at UCLA when the Bruins won the 1995 national championship.

Syllabus

Introduction

Coach Mark Gottfried demonstrates several out of bounds plays from under your own basket. These quick hitters will help your team have several options for a high percentage shot. The next part of the video is sideline inbounds plays. Gottfried demonstrates basic sideout and corner action. The next segment is full court inbounds play for late game situations. Gottfried emphasizes the details of getting open, making a good pass and taking a good shot. The three and six second drills are used to prepare the team to make key baskets under pressure.

No other position can change the game like a great post player. In this informative video, Coach Tom Asbury will demonstrate how to develop highly skilled post players. Among the topics covered are: field goal percentage defense, the five key elements of defense, show and recover, help and recover, chug and recover, the eight point deny drill, denying the ball, how to closeout and contest shots, boxing out, post defense, 2 on 2 defense and defense against a variety of screens. A great resource for any coach or player seeking to dominate in the post position!

Coach Orlando Early demonstrates several skills and drills any post player will need to be successful at any level of play. Among the topics covered are: the Mikan drill, reverse Mikan drill, jump hooks (right and left hands), offensive and defensive rebounding drills, the power lay-in series, shot fakes, offensive post play, drop step, inside pivot, side post, high post and inside screen. This is a great workout that will help post players dramatically improve their skills near the basket.

Coach Rob Moxley provides a workout designed to help develop your Wings into the most versatile players on your team. Among the topics covered are: ball screen series, how to set up the ball screen, coming off a single down screen using a curl and fade, two ball shooting, penetrate and pitch with a variety of options (Iverson cut over the top, corner play off a screen, shot fake and one dribble, catch and sweep) and 1-on-1-on-1 game working on offensive and defensive moves.

Coach Jim Harrick considers the high post offense the best offense a team can run. It has everything a team will need, from side posts, to duck ins, to screen and rolls, single down and and double down screens. The greatest thing about is the ability to design any play from it once your team has the right foundation. In this informative video, Coach Harrick shares several teaching points that have allowed his teams to dominate offensively. This multi-purpose offense provides continuity and a balanced floor position that will challenge any defense. Harrick discusses his 4 E's philoshophy of success: Energy, Emotion, Effort and Enthusiasm. He also discusses the things he emphasizes in daily in practice.

Coach Bobby Lutz shows you everything you need to know about the 2-3 Zone with detailed on the court demonstrations. Among the topics covered are: the basic philosophy of the 2-3 zone defense, how to guard the ball, how to adjust and match up, how to cover the high post, defending the low post, the importance of communication, fake and fade coverage, covering the corners, reacting to a skip pass, defending the ball screen, breaking down the slides, when to switch coverage of the ball, stacking the guards, and trapping the ball. Coach Bob Alejo discusses some of the basics of strength and conditioning that has helped North Carolina State University become a perennial basketball championship contender. Among the topics covered are: the importance of being technically sound, coaching what you know, developing a unique program, emphasizing the basics over the hype, the philosophy of training high school players, the importance of measuring and managing, press, pull and squat, conditioning (timed sprinting and agility drills), interval training and quality intensity levels.
