Watches are devices that measure and display time. They are typically worn on the wrist, but can also be attached to clothing, a chain, or other objects. Watches can be either mechanical, which rely on a spring-driven mechanism to power the movement of the hands, or electronic, which use a battery or solar cell to power an electronic circuit that controls the display of time. Watches come in a wide variety of styles and functions, from basic models that simply display the time to complex models that can perform a variety of tasks, such as tracking fitness, monitoring heart rate, and even making phone calls.

History of Watches

The earliest known watches were invented in the 16th century by German and Swiss craftsmen. These early watches were large and expensive, and were only owned by the very wealthy. In the 17th century, the development of the pendulum clock led to the development of more accurate watches. By the 18th century, watches had become smaller and more affordable, and were worn by people of all social classes.
