Internet history is the story of the development of the Internet, from its origins as a military research project to its current status as a global communications network. It is a complex and fascinating subject that has involved the collaboration of thousands of scientists, engineers, and other professionals from all over the world.

The Early Days

The origins of the Internet can be traced back to the early days of computing. In the 1950s, the United States Department of Defense (DOD) commissioned a project to develop a network that would allow its researchers to share information and collaborate on projects. This project, known as ARPANET, was the first true precursor to the Internet.

ARPANET was a success, and by the early 1970s, it had been adopted by universities and research institutions around the world. In 1973, the first international connection was established, and the Internet was born.

The Growth of the Internet

In the years that followed, the Internet grew rapidly. By the 1980s, it had become a popular tool for communication, research, and education. In the 1990s, the World Wide Web was invented, and the Internet became even more accessible to the general public.
